The lunch of the new V6 and V8 engines is one of the most revolutionary changes in the line up of the brand. It is the first time that Mercury is launching in one year engines from 150 to 300 Hp. Mercury invited us in the presentation of those engines in the lake Maggiore. It is the second largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland. There, we had the chance to learn about the background of the development and the most important, to test them in many different combinations, with single and double setup.
Mercury spent 1 billion dollars in order to develop those engines! The aim was to fulfill customers’ needs and not the needs of the marketing department. The result was the two new lines of engines. Those are lighter, smaller, most durable, easy to maintain, with smooth operation and great sound quality.
In the sea trials we were amazed by their smooth operation. Almost zero vibration, very low noise level and very good performance in all the range of RPMs. We also liked the option of louder exhaust in the Verado version. Now we have to wait to see the performance of the new engines in our boats. In a few months, one of the first pairs of Verado 300 V8 will arrive in Ribco!
